We really want more teamsters and other members to get involved. If you have a safety idea or question that we could pass on, submit it to webmaster@nmdha.com and we'll route it through the board to post on the site. We'll try to bring you something new every month or so.

Tip #3
I got to watching again the DVD from Gene's field day and the picture of Steve Reulf on the plow with his spotted drafts sure stood out again for me. Steve when I think of all the possiblities of a wreck happening and just how easy it could be avoided. Steve and others should always sit on or otherwise secure the lines when driving. I use a simple conway buckle to secure my lines together then tie them in a loop and either hang them on a standard or on a handle on the plow. This way if I drop one, and yes it can happen, I don't worry where they are, I know and can find them fast and continue driving. When mowing I sit on them and the same goes for when I'm on a disc. My forcart has standards that once I tie the loop they can hang on the standard and I don't have to worry about the excess line falling downand being lost or run over. Folks please keep in mind that I am in no way picking on Steve, because he is a very good teamster. Its just a good way for someone to learn a safer method of controlling the lines.
