Draft horses plowing field

My name is Leon Luffey from Delano. My horses names are Dean and Duke, 10 year old geldings. They stand 18 & 18 2 hands tall. I've worked with draft horses since I was a little boy on the 138 acre family farm that I own today. I'm third generation on the farm in over 125 years.

In the one picture below, you see me sitting on Billy my Dad's right hand Belgian gelding. In the other picture, years later, I'm returning home from delivering milk cans in town, driving my Dad's team of Belgians Billy and Queenie.

I've had several teams over the years and have just added a third gelding named Charlie to work with Dean & Duke this spring at spring plow day. Charlie stands 18 2 at 4 years old. Out of all the horses I have owned, excluding the team I got from Don Becker, I think Dean & Duke are the best.

The plow you see me sitting on in the main picture is Junior Schafer's John Deer #38 Power Lift. Thank you Junior for the use of your plow. A special thanks to Mel Klein for making it possible for me to have my team at field days 2009.
